Merry Wreathmas Tutorial

Recommended:
Watch the video once through for an overview and what to expect. Then, use our step-by-step written guide while making, referring to the video as needed. Do the kit in one sitting as air dry clay will dry over time. If you're new to soft air dry clay, please read our Basics of Soft Air Dry Clay page.

Time Needed:
 Approx 1-2 hours

Tools:
• 3 clay colors
• Toothpick
• Scissors (optional, not provided in pack)
• Non-stick work surface

Step 1: Wreath Base
Grab a handful of green clay. Stretch and condition the clay till smooth, then roll it into a long, thin cylinder shape. Create a ring with the cylinder. Optional: For a smoother joint, you may use scissors to cut the ends so that they flush flat against each other.

Step 2: Leaves
Roll a tiny ball of green, then roll it into a cylinder like shape. Press down to form a flattened oval. Use a toothpick to make a line along the length of the oval for the leaf. Repeat! You may need approximately 30-40 leaves, depending on the size of your wreath and leaves.

Step 3: Sticking Leaves on Base
If your clay has gone dry and is not sticking to the base, dip it in a little bit of water on the end of the leaf. Use the toothpick to press each leaf down against the base for better adherence.

Step 4:
Repeat with 2-3 leaves per row, and go in the same direction. Make sure each row overlaps the previous one a little to give it a seamless look. Position your leaves to cover gaps.

Step 5: Bow
Take the brown clay and roll into a thin, long rope. Loop the rope as shown in the photos to create the bow shape. Optional: You may use a shorter piece of brown rope to cover the middle, centre part of the bow to cover the criss cross.

Step 6: Berries
This one's easy! Roll 5 small balls of red for the berries. That's it!

Step 7: Assemble
Time to join them all up! If your clay has gone dry and is not sticking together, dip it in a little bit of water on the ends. The water will help the clay stick. Apply a slight pressure to help the parts adhere. And you're finished! Let your creation air dry for about 2 days, and will last as long as you do not wet it :) Merry Christmas!
